Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we’ll be there to greet you and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. Once you’ve settled in, our safari manager will meet you at the lodge for a short briefing, providing all the details you need for the days ahead. Afterward, you can unwind and enjoy your first night in Tanzania.

If you’re arriving via another airport, such as Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we’ll gladly arrange your transfer to Arusha. From Dar es Salaam, we recommend taking a flight, while from Nairobi, you have the option of a scheduled shuttle bus, a private vehicle transfer via the Namanga border, or a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. We’ll make sure your journey is smooth and stress-free.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge in Arusha before we set off for Tarangire National Park. Your first taste of safari adventure will begin with a thrilling game drive through the expansive park. We’ll arrive in time for lunch, allowing you to refuel and soak in the surroundings.

In the afternoon, continue exploring the park with more game drives, discovering the diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

We’ll journey towards Serengeti National Park today, with an exciting stop en route at Olduvai Gorge. This steep-sided ravine is renowned for the significant archaeological discoveries made by Louis and Mary Leakey in the 1950s. At the small museum here, you can see evidence of our ancestors dating back 2.5 million years.

After our visit, we’ll enjoy lunch before driving into the Serengeti. The afternoon will be spent game viewing across the expansive plains, dotted with acacia trees and occasional kopjes. Depending on the season, we might encounter the migration with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. You’ll also spot resident animals like giraffe, buffalo, and elephant, as well as formidable predators such as lion, cheetah, and leopard.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park Full Day

We’ll enjoy another full day exploring the magnificent Serengeti, starting early to maximize our time in this incredible park. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations based on the season, ensuring we get the most out of our game drives.

We might start the day at the Hippo Pool, where you can watch these majestic animals lounging in the cool water, sharing their space with crocodiles. We may encounter a pride of lions or find ourselves in the midst of the migration, surrounded by herds of wildebeest and zebras.

As we journey from the open plains to the kopjes—volcanic rocky outcrops that offer shelter and protection for a variety of animals—we’ll have stunning views of the Serengeti’s vast grasslands. The diverse landscape promises exceptional game viewing opportunities. We’ll hope to spot all the plains game, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests, and with a bit of luck, the elusive leopard and cheetah. Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy seeing a range of interesting species, from elegant secretary birds to flightless ostriches.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

Today, we’ll descend 2,000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for an exciting tour. Our exploration will take us through the diverse landscapes of the crater, including lush forest areas where we might spot monkeys and elephants. We’ll visit the lake area, where flamingos often grace the waters with their vibrant colors, and then venture into the open savannah, where you may witness lions on the hunt.

A picnic lunch will be served within the crater, allowing you to enjoy a meal surrounded by the stunning natural beauty. After our time in the crater, we’ll make a short journey back to Arusha, where you can relax and unwind after an incredible day of wildlife viewing.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park

We’ll depart from your lodge in Karatu and head to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its diversity despite its relatively small size. Lake Manyara itself covers two-thirds of the park, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Great Rift Valley.

Our exploration will take us through the park’s varied landscapes, including groundwater forests, open grasslands along the lake’s edge, and the Soda Lake. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in this picturesque setting, surrounded by grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands, and steep mountainsides.

Lake Manyara National Park is a birdwatcher’s paradise with over 350 bird species, and it’s also famous for its unique tree-climbing lions. After a day of wildlife viewing and birdwatching, we’ll drive back to Arusha in the late afternoon, concluding our memorable safari adventure.

Day 7: Arusha To Zanzibar

This morning, you’ll be transferred to the nearby airstrip, where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch before boarding your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your beach hotel.

Zanzibar is renowned for its stunning, pristine beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. Spend your days here doing as much or as little as you like on this idyllic island. You might choose to explore the historic Stone Town, visit a spice farm, or venture into Jozani Forest to see the endemic Red Colobus monkeys (optional tours not included). Alternatively, you can simply relax, or take part in snorkeling, windsurfing, or diving, with some activities available at additional costs.

Day 8: Prison Islsnd in Zanzibar

After breakfast at 9:30 a.m., you’ll be picked up for a guided tour to Prison Island. We’ll head to Stone Town, where you’ll board a special boat to the island.

At Prison Island, you’ll encounter the giant tortoises and explore the old historical prison, which once held slaves waiting to be sold after arriving from the market. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the Prison Island restaurant, and then take the opportunity to go snorkeling in the clear waters.

After your visit to Prison Island, the boat will return you to Stone Town. Here, you’ll embark on a guided historical tour, including a visit to the slave trade chambers and some time for shopping.

Day 9: Day at the Beach

Take this time to relax and unwind on the stunning beaches of Zanzibar. Enjoy the sun, sand, and sea, and let yourself be immersed in the island’s natural beauty. Whether you’re lounging by the water, taking a leisurely stroll along the shore, or simply soaking up the peaceful ambiance, Zanzibar offers the perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Day 10: Departuring

You’ll be transferred back to Zanzibar Airport to catch your flight to Arusha or Dar es Salaam, where you’ll connect with your international flight home. Safe travels and we hope you’ve had an unforgettable safari and beach vacation!
